After a long day exploring West Texas, I found myself at the bar at Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House, and it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and made an excellent Manhattan. Sometimes you can tell a lot about a restaurant by how they treat a solo traveler sitting at the bar, and I felt welcomed from the moment I sat down. I started with the Texas chili, and as someone from South Texas, I'll admit I'm firmly in the "beans belong in chili" camp. This was the first bowl that's made me question that opinion. It was incredibly thick, rich, and silky, then generously topped with onions, jalapeños, and shredded cheese. Once everything was stirred together, it became a fantastic bowl of chili that completely won me over. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken fried steak. The jalapeño-infused cream gravy was absolutely delicious. I kept hoping to find little pieces of jalapeño or roasted poblano mixed into it because I think that would take an already great gravy to another level. We had a wonderful dining experience at Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House. As soon as we arrived at our private table, one of the waitresses kindly brought a water bowl for our dog, which we truly appreciated. That thoughtful gesture immediately made us feel very welcome. Ryan provided excellent service to both me and my husband—friendly, attentive, and made our dinner very enjoyable. My lemon drop martini was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the chicken fried steak. I’m originally from Texas and have lived in California for the past 30 years, so I’ve been craving a real Texas-style chicken fried steak for quite some time. The generous portion brought back memories of the true Texas hospitality and big-hearted servings I remember growing up with in Texas in the ’70s. That kind of Texan generosity is something special. I also have to say—the prices were refreshingly reasonable, especially compared to California. Great value for the quality, portions, and overall experience. My husband was also very happy with his ribeye steak, and he’s very picky when it comes up steaks. Great food, great drinks, and wonderful service. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding dinner at Hauffbrau Steakhouse in Amarillo! Our family had an absolutely fantastic experience at Hauffbrau Steakhouse, and every single meal at our table was a hit! My husband and I shared the Coffee Rubbed Cowboy Bone-In Ribeye, and WOW—what a steak! My husband was initially skeptical about the coffee rub, worried it might taste bitter or overly like coffee, but one bite completely changed his mind. The flavor was incredible—rich, bold, perfectly balanced, and that crust was absolutely phenomenal. It enhanced the steak beautifully without overpowering the natural flavor of the meat. In fact, he was so impressed he’s already talking about recreating it at home… which says a lot, because restaurants rarely beat his own flavor expectations! 🤫😂 Our son ordered the Cowtown Chicken Fried Steak, and it was huge, crispy, tender, and covered in delicious creamy gravy—exactly what you want from a Texas comfort food classic. Our daughter had the Brazos Burger, and it looked every bit as amazing as it tasted—juicy, loaded, and clearly made with care. The sides were just as memorable! 3.5 stars actually. The service was very nice and on the ball, the seating area was nice and music not too loud. We could actually hear each other talk. And the food was ok. It’s not going to knock your socks off but if you’re hungry it’s ok and will fill you up.

If you want a perfectly cooked, tasty, tender steak, try Sal's 13 oz ribeye. I highly recommend giving this place a try. The Dr. Pepper ribs are also pretty tasty. Loaded baked potatoes are good, and the fries are good. My 10-year-old daughter loved the macaroni and cheese. This place was so good we went back the next day. I got the same 13 oz steak, and it was even better than the one the day before. The ribs were on point, tender, and delicious. The chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and macaroni were delicious and pretty large. The salad and chicken tenders are also super delicious. I don't think they serve anything that isn't delicious.
